This fly might be the most popular go to fly in the Atlantic salmon anglers box. Arthur Wood (of "Greased Line" fame) caught 393 fish using this fly, with only 77 credited to the famous Jock Scott. The feather wing version has been over shadowed by it's easier to tie hair wing version. Paul Jorgensen ties the Charm using woodchuck which has better color then Grey squirrel. Russ The top fly is squirrel with the bottom being Woodchuck.

Hi Fishy I took lesson's from Warren Duncan and he said 6's and 8's are the most popular size's for Atlantic salmon. Up on the Gaspe in June if the water is at all high I would start with a #4. This fly is a #4. I like the theory bigger water bigger fly. Warren lived in St John NB and gave tying classes at Hunter's fly shop here in NH. He had a heart attack sitting at his bench tying flies. He taught me pretty much every thing I know about salmon flies. Russ
