Thanks Shaq, a good read. I have been keeping track of Jim Johnson's work since the project began. Here is a list of what has been stocked so far. We may start to see returns this summer from the first fish he stocked in 2009. *Note: These fish are in addition to the ~30,000 NYSDEC Atlantic yearlings that have been stocked in the Salmon River each year since 1996.
Atlantic Salmon restoration effort – Beaverdam Brook
*USGS Tunison Lab- Jim Johnson 2009 -201?? project. Goal is to get adults returning in the summer to Beaverdam Brook where they can be captured and transported to Tunison by truck. They would be held there until ripening in November. Then eggs could be taken from these “Lake Ontario strain” Atlantics to get the program going.

The 30,000 yearling Atlantic salmon stocked by the NYSDEC into the Salmon River each year are not marked. This link takes you to the latest available Lake Ontario report : www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/lou2011hilights.pdfGo to Section 1 to see the Stocking that took place in 2011.
