Has anyone cast one of the TFO Pandion rods? The 500-600gr. rod looks pretty good. Russ

Hey Russ,
Yes I have. Not a bad rod.I really dont know why TFO followed up the Deer Creek with it. Same price point to boot. It handles an AF scandi nice.I dont recall the Grs but it was tipped with a Rio 15 foot.Seemed to turn over well.I think I just expected TFO to step up a bit with all of the success of the DC line. The rod just seems to fall into the nothing special rack with so many others. Dont get me wrong about TFO.The DC is a great rod for the price and their singles are a great buy.I just expected more.

I'm casting an ECHO TR 7130, would you say these rods are twin son's of different mothers? My issue is I pretty much use a two hander to fish one week a year. I go up to the Gaspe in June and then use a single #6 for trout fishing the rest of the season. I can't justify spending $800.00 for a rod I almost never use. I would like to get a back up rod for the TR. I don't like the Deer Creek rods, they seem clubby and the handle Dia. is to small for me. Any suggestions? Russ

Depending on the budget, I would suggest a look at Beulah. The classic versions are pretty value oriented and if you were to step up to the platinums, you echo might find itself in the backup role.

Can anyone compare the TR to the Pandion Are they about the same action? If you think the TR is junk don't be afraid to say so. My first rod was the Dec Hogan ECHO. Why Dec would let his name be used on that rod I don't know. That rod was heavy and had no back bone. I took a lesson from Topher Brown. After casting the DH he gave me the TR to try. The TR was lighter and had spring to it. For lack of a better word. I cast a Beulah last year and found it nose heavy and the front grip was to short to help make up the difference. I'm still learning the actions of these rods so I'm not sure really what I should be looking for. I'm pretty much Scandi casting light flies. Russ
