Didn't see a heading for casting technique's so I'll put this under General!
OK so am I wrong to think that spey casting is an aerialised cast! I keep seeing so many people rolling their line out on the water as if they are taking the term "redirected roll cast" too far.
My thoughts are the line should go through the air, like a tight forward loop of an overhead cast from a single hander. Tightest loops the line tapers & rod speed will allow!
Any reason the belly should land on the water & then roll out the front taper/tip? Is it to make the line less visible to the fish? Deal with winds?
OK lets hear what's what!
